Call for Artist Submissions
Deadline: May 22, 2026 at 5:00 PM
Squamish, BC – The Squamish Public Library is inviting artists from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) to submit proposals for a permanent interior art installation that will reflect the library’s commitment to reconciliation and honour Squamish People’s history, language, and culture.
The commissioned artwork will be prominently displayed within the library, offering a meaningful and visible acknowledgement that the library stands on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Squamish Nation. Artists are invited to interpret and celebrate Squamish culture, traditions, and connection to the land through their own creative vision.
“The Squamish Public Library Board recently created a statement on the library’s commitment to Reconciliation, and we wish to honour and recognize this commitment through an installation that will be visible to all who visit the library,” explained director of library services, Hilary Bloom.
This project is supported in part by a library enhancement grant from the Province of British Columbia.
