Call for Artist Submissions
Waterfront Community Art Walk – Carbon Engineering Innovation Centre

Deadline (EXTENDED): May 14, 2026

Carbon Engineering (CE) invites Indigenous artists from Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) to create a digital artwork design for display along the public walkway near our Innovation Centre in the Squamish Oceanfront area. This high-traffic path, frequented by cyclists, walkers, and nature lovers, runs alongside the CE perimeter fencing. At CE, our team is developing innovative technology to pull carbon dioxide (CO₂) directly from the atmosphere.

We’re seeking vibrant, digital artwork that honours and reflects the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) whose territory the Innovation Centre is located on. The art will reflect the beauty, energy, and biodiversity of our surrounding environment and will engage the community and enhance their connection to this space. Selected artwork will be printed and installed on weather-protected aluminum composite panels along the fence, turning an industrial edge into an inspiring outdoor gallery.

Project Details:
Number of Commissions: 1 individual artwork from Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) artist

Artwork Specs: High-resolution digital files suitable for printing at approximately 4 ft (h) x 8 ft (w).

Medium: Digital art (any style or medium that can be submitted as a high-res digital file). Digital art will be applied as a vinyl print to a weather-sealed aluminum composite board and fixed to the site fence.
