These banners were installed as part of the downtown Squamish street banners. They featured colourful geometric landscape designs.

Artist Statement

I chose a colour palette inspired by nature and infused with bright colours typically seen on the gear and clothing of outdoor enthusiasts. The geometric forms represent not only the powerful energy but also the diversity and complex balance of our landscape.

Sarah Symes is a Canadian Artist located in Squamish, BC. Sarah studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, England where she developed an eclectic and rigorous approach to design and a passion for abstract art. Sarah was awarded Best of Show by the Los Angeles Art Association in 2007 and since then her artwork has been exhibited in Canada, the USA and Europe. She has been published in art books and interviewed for TV, magazines, newspapers and websites. She has been highlighted by some of the leading influencers in the design world, such as Pantone. She was commissioned by HBO in 2019 and selected by the United Nations in 2021. In addition to many series of artwork, Sarah has completed private commissions and her work hangs in collections worldwide.
