Description

Two serpent heads can be found in áynexwi7 playground as part of the legend of Sinulky a spirited warrior who slayed the serpent to protect his community. One serpent head is carved and painted at the front of the playground and the second is wrapped around the metal slide. Both pieces were completed by Siobhan Joseph a local Squamish Nation carver and artist.

Siobhan Joseph is a Squamish Nation artist who has been steadily building her reputation as a muralist and painter. She describes her paintings as a reflection of both “traditional” styles of the Indigenous peoples of the Northwest coast of British Columbia and more “realistic” portrayals of animals.
