Description

This is a sculpture of an inukshuk, with large stone blocks balanced atop one another in the shape of a figure. The word “inukshuk” means “in the likeness of a human.” For generations, Inuit have been creating these impressive stone markers on the vast Arctic landscape. Inukshuks serve several functions, including guiding travellers, warning of danger, assisting hunters, and marking places of reverence. This one sits outside Squamish’s Adventure Centre, one of the first places travellers often visit upon arriving to Squamish.
